Design for the Real World

  • Define the skills and tasks to be learned
  • Identify the information and steps required to perform the tasks
  • Create job aids and guides to provide the information and procedures to be used in performing the tasks
  • Build the aids into the work itself--make them accessible. Example.
  • Write in second person
  • Don't try for immediate perfection. Put in place and get feedback. Then systematically improve and customize them.
